Buying a residential garage door

Necessary information :

  1. Opening dimensions.
    • Length
    • Height

     Tip : Be accurate to within 1/2 inch. Make sure you are measuring the opening and not the size of the existing door.
  2. The space between the floor and the ceiling.

     Tip : Do not forget to estimate the finishing of your ceiling if it is not finished.
  3. Do you have cathedral ceiling ?

  4. Do you have a transom ?

  5. Do you want an electrical opener ?

  6. Do you plan to heat the garage to make it habitable ?

     Tip : Condensation is very common in a garage, people usually forget that thawing the car creates a lot of moisture. Plan accordingly.
